The Geek

Born and bred on a Strawberry Farm on the Lincolnshire-Norfolk border in England, it's hardly a surprise that my love of food started from a young age and has continued to develop into my adult life. Growing up, I was very fortunate to belong to a family where good food and overflowing plates were guarenteed on a daily basis, and I have them to thank whole-heartedly, as without their love of food, who knows what i'd be obsessed with!!

I always remember being somewhat strange during my school years, opting for the bizarre and unusual, rather than the safe and conventional options which were so often expected of me. I believe in the mantra: 'don't knock it 'til you've tried it', and it is something I continue to live my life by, rarely finding an ingrediant or flavour combination which is not to my taste (definitely have my Dad to thank for that one!).

Despite living the life of a student, and most recently a clinical researcher for the past 6 years (both in the UK and New Zealand), my appetite for fine food and unique eating experiences only seems to have grown stronger, and I now spend my days saving my pennies and researching where my next culinary adventure may take me.

As you have probably guessed already I am not a writer and this is purely a hobby of mine, however
I do hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I have enjoyed eating at all these lovely places, hopefully it might even give you an idea or two...

I apologise for my lack of input recently (I have my PhD work and a 'blossoming' research career in NZ to thank for that), however I intend to be back up and running in the very near future with all of my experiences from the Southern hemisphere, including a documentation of my experiences in Bali, Cambodia and Vietnam!!
